Take some time to draw a balance sheet for Rosemary and then complete it as far as you can, assuming that Rosemary wants to return home; that Mark supports this; that Hilary would like to see Rosemary in a placement as she sees Mark as only wanting Rosemary to return home so that he can continue to live there rent free; and that the most substantial care package your employing organisation could offer would be three 20-minute episodes of home care a day. The safeguarding team have some concerns about Mark's reported attitude to leaving Rosemary home alone when he goes out to play golf, but no other concrete information. The occupational therapist on the ward has done a home visit with Rosemary and completed a report indicating that certain aids and adaptations will be necessary if Rosemary is allowed to return home. A bed is available within a local nursing home and Rosemary has been assessed as suitable for this. Remember the person-centred focus of the checklist and see what decision you might make.
